How to Trick Your iPhone Into Activation-Hot News iPhone Hack

I DID IT. Were you like me and STUCK with your phone not being activated. Here is the trick into getting your phone activated IMMEDIATELY. Follow these steps EXACTLY:
Notice you WILL NOT KEEP YOUR NUMBER! DON'T DO THIS IF YOU WANT YOUR # STILL
1. Call up AT&T: 1-877-800-3701
2. Tell them to CANCLE your phone number migration. Tell them you want a new number.
3. Once they do this you will receive an email in minutes telling you your activation was cancelled.
4. Reactivate.
5. Your iRock turns into an iPhone!
Just to prove it is true. My activated phone. Be jealous!

hey, can you explain this a bit more? It sounds like you actually activated first. What did you do exactly?
I don't get it. Did you sign up and activate a 2 year subscription first? If so, didnt you have to pay then? Is AT&T not going to give you a new number and start charging you?
Yes. I originally activated my phone that night at about 7:30PM. My wife and I are both on Verizon. Her phone immediately transferred the number and activated while mine was stuck.
I waited over 24 hours and then came up with an idea. Why don't I just cancel the activation and NOT port my number. I can always fix that later, and even if I don't it isn't a huge deal for me to switch cell phone numbers.
I then called up AT&T and told them I wanted to cancel my activation. They have the ability to do this over the phone. About 1 minute after I got off the phone from AT&T, I got an email saying my activation was cancelled.
I then re-activated my phone but did not select..PORT MY NUMBER, or FAMILY PLAN. It then activated within 60 seconds.

Ok so basically, you still needed to reactivate, and instead of having to wait, it was instant because you got a new phone number? Do I have this right?
Not really the activation hack I was looking for:) I was more looking for a way to cancel service but keep the iPhone working (without the phone features obviously)

Well...actually now that you mention it. I don't see why this wouldn't work? If you cancel activation then you can use the phone without the service! Try it.
might not work. If you cancel service, it says you *may* have to return the iPhone or be charged $500:
"If you cancel service within the return period but do not return the equipment within the return period or if equipment is not returned in like-new condition, you may be charged the full retail price of the equipment."

You *may*... but will you?
