How to Trick Your iPhone Into Activation-Hot News iPhone Hack

I DID IT. Were you like me and STUCK with your phone not being activated. Here is the trick into getting your phone activated IMMEDIATELY. Follow these steps EXACTLY:
Notice you WILL NOT KEEP YOUR NUMBER! DON'T DO THIS IF YOU WANT YOUR # STILL
1. Call up AT&T: 1-877-800-3701
2. Tell them to CANCLE your phone number migration. Tell them you want a new number.
3. Once they do this you will receive an email in minutes telling you your activation was cancelled.
4. Reactivate.
5. Your iRock turns into an iPhone!
Just to prove it is true. My activated phone. Be jealous!

Apple Screwed Up the iPhone it is now the iRock
As much as I like Apple and think they try to do the right thing, it seems like Apple really messed up the iPhone debut. I can't imagine the people responsible for the launch having a job at Apple anymore given Steve Jobs reputation for excellence. Just when it seemed as though Apple could do no wrong and their stock began to catapult threw the roof, they have perhaps the worst public relations incident ever in the history of Apple.
The iPhone was really a product that Apple intended to grab Windows users over to OS X. Now I wonder how they could have screwed up this launch this badly. In a nutshell, many users waited for some period of time in line to get an iPhone yet they still cannot activate their phone due to some undisclosed problem. At the Apple Support Forums there are some threads that have been read over 23,000 times as desperate users try to figure out what the problem is in getting their phones activated. If you try to go to the link above it will actually lock up your web browser as the thread is to big to fit in your browsers memory.
What adds insult to injury is that the iPhone manual clearly states that the iPhone will be functional even if it is not activated, but for thousands with a 600 dollar iRock this is not the case. Their phone is locked up into a mode where only emergency calls can be made.
I wonder what the cost of the public relations nightmare will be for Apple. I would put the damage to Apple's long term stock price in the millions of dollars if not hundreds of millions as Apple's reputation for new customers has been damaged. Most of the Apple loyal will forgive Apple, but potential new customers may be turned off forever.
The iTunes KCRW Stream is Awesome
It is weird how big of an impact music makes on my mood and productivity. I just rediscovered the iTunes KCRW Alternative stream. I used to listen to KCRW all the time in the morning when I lived in Los Angeles, but forgot about it since I have been in Atlanta. It has great stuff that you will never hear on commercial radio. Wow!

I Survived The Line and Grabbed an iPhone

After some expert help from some new friends on the O'Reilly blogging network, I realized that if I went the the Lennox mall in Atlanta it would probably be a lost cause. So...I decided to stake my bets on a small AT&T store in Fayetteville, GA.
My wife, my 7 month old son and I stood outside, dodging rain and we barely got one. We were among the last group of people to get an iPhone. Ahh victory....it smells like a brand new iPhone!
No fair...my wife's phone just worked and activated and mine is stuck...arghh..

Running Turbogears On Top of Pylons
This weekend a few of us Atlanta Python people and Mark Ramm met to do some crazy stuff. We wanted to see what it would be like to run Turbogears on top of Pylons. What happened...well...it works!
I am very excited to know that this could be the interesting new direction of Turbogears and would allow Pylons and Turbogears to share components. Reusing other programmers work is quite nice and the core philosophy of Turbogears. This is yet another step in the right direction.

First Post on New Personal Blog
I have had osxautomation running for a while and it turns out that I write about things other than just automating osx...go figure. So it has made sense for a while to split my blogging up into osx and everything else!
