It apparently is not going to be difficult to have a weekly WTF. I don't even need to comment on this one:

Zen of Mac

Here is a link to a popular blog posting I did for O'Reilly entitled "Zen of Mac". I will probably go into detail further on osxautomation at a later date.

Liten 0.1a: Deduplication Tool

I had a little fun this weekend and wrote liten, a command line tool to detect and report duplicates. It is alpha and bleeding edge but "works for me"!

Interesting Musician Spotlight: SoKo

I just stumbled across a new singer/songwriter called Soko today while I was listening to KCRW. Here is a link to a small profile and video she did that is on YouTube. You can download this track from iTunes.

My personal opinion is that the best music happens when there is a rare combination of genuine emotion, inspiration, and talent. Bob Dylan, Cold Play, Alaniss Morisset, U2, etc., all had early periods where they matched this formula. I would expect big things from her in the future. Contrived music is one of the reasons why the recording industry blew up. Unfortunately, there is a very small window in which an artist has the ability to come up with this mixture of emotion, inspiration and talent.

I highly recommend listening to her track, "I Kill Her". It is true musical genius.

A Decent Article on Human Nature

Here is an interesting article from Psychology Today.

I agree that criminals and young successful people have the same goal, but choose different methods to achieve that goal. As a person ages they don't have that burning desire they had in their twenties, unless they are exceptionally motivated, or abnormally motivated. It is a common problem that if you have NOT done something big before 30, then you might not ever to do anything big. It sounds harsh, but it is often true.

I also agree with the fact that sex is a motivational factor for men, whether they admit it or not.

Ignorant Quote of The Day

Anti-feminist quotes

The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians. -Pat Robertson (Christian Coalition), 1992 Republican National Convention

Here are some more great quotes by this living genius.
