USA Compared to Iran and North Korea
The USA Compares to Iran and North Korea
According this WSJ post, the USA "Brand" has been damaged. The USA name is compared to and I quote..."Israel, North Korea, and Iran as the nations perceived to be having the most negative influence on the world."
Wow! The USA's reputation is so bad that we are compared in the same sentence as North Korea and Iran. Has any other Presidency done this much damage to America? I truly wonder if America will ever recover from George W. Bush and his reign of incompetency. If the CEO of Starbucks brought the brand down to the likes of "Olde English 800" wouldn't he be fired and relegated to the back corner of business forever?

Video Podcast Show Production Recap
So, Jeremy Jones and I shot the final segment of our show, "Spotlight on FOSS", over the weekend and I then spent Saturday and Sunday editing everything together on my laptop. I haven't done any really serious editing like this, where I worked late into the night, since I was a teenager doing linear 3/4" machine to machine editing. I exclusively used Final Cut Studio on a "development version" of OS X and all I have to say is WOW!
Final Cut Studio is insane for what it does. I was able to do so many complicated things, so easily, it blew my mind. We are still tweaking a few things and will probably make a few changes before it is released to the public.
Our first guest that we interview is a huge name in the Free and Open Source World and delivers an interview that is better than I could have hoped for. It is truly an inspirational show.
We will be releasing the show in a variety of formats ranging from a Video Podcast available from iTunes, to Ogg, to something playable in a browser. I checked out the show on my iPhone last night and it looked quite good. I think the iPhone is an incredible format for delivering content.

Greenspan Tells It Like It Is
It appears that one of our most respected public figures, Allen Greenspan, is not too fond of Bush or his actions during the last two terms in this article from the Washington Post.
In retrospect, many unpopular opinions during the last eight years seem to be becoming quite popular today. Perhaps, we are living out our own Vietnam War, where our Government lies to us and does things in our name, and then later admits they were all wrong in memoirs. Who could have predicted that our revered economic Guru would say, ".....the war is about oil...", or "Washington was "harboring a dysfunctional government. . . . Governance has become dangerously dysfunctional.."?
At some point, rational, powerful men like Greenspan have an ethical duty to point out when our government has failed us. This is not a Republican versus Democrat issue, this is about gross incompetence. I agree with Greenspan, our current administration is dysfunctional. I would go so far as to say it is the worst America has ever seen, and it might have destroyed something in America that can never be recovered.

Musician of the Week
I watched the unbelievably good Italian movie, "Don't Move" around a week ago, and I was struck by how good some of the music was. I took quite a bit of research to find more about the soundtrack, but it was all done by Lucio Godoy.
It is almost impossible to find anywhere to get his music, but I found a used CD soundtrack for "Don't Move" on Amazon. You can also download a track from iTunes in the United States, called "Tiempo Pequeño". I think he is a musical genius, but I guess he is still not a huge hit, at least in the USA.
