sleep
for wed and thursday I have slept almost the entire day, plus a regular sleep at night. Wow, I almost feel normal after the crazy book deadline schedule. It is difficult for your brain to solve anything complicated on no sleep, note to self.

run
run: ran 4 miles today, with a half mile sprint at the end
feeling: I had intended to run intervals, but was too stressed out and made excuses. The reality is that I broke my own rule about stress, and I should have the most intense workouts when I am stressed out. I still had a really good workout, but it could have been better.
Tomorrow, if I have the guts, should be a 10 mile run, with possible inclusion of an few intervals. It really is a psychological game your mind plays on you, to make you think you don't have time, or energy to workout. The reality is that I feel wonderful after a hard workout, and always have much more energy than I thought.
Finally, stress and and exercise are like a clean burning fuel. One is a perfect compliment to the other. No wonder why so many CEOs and entrepreneurs are in incredible physical condition. If you are doing incredible things everyday you have no choice but to be in incredible physical condition. War is war, whether it is in your mind, in a board room, or on a battlefield. If you are not in peak physical condition, you can't compete at that level.

Episode One: Spotlight on FOSS Interview With Mark Shuttleworth
Jeremy Jones and I also had a skunkworks Video Podcast Series going for the last six months with O'Reilly that finally got realized. We have about five minutes of the interview up, but will be adding the rest of the interview segments in the day or so.

intervals
workout: 1 mile trail run/ 6 x 200 m intervals / 1 mile trail run
feeling: It was pretty tough getting back into running intervals after around a month off doing longer distance only. I have decided I need to walk a 200 meter length after the 4th interval and I also need to run the last 200 meter all out. I passed out when I got home for 1 hour, so it was a good workout

Note I slightly augmented this as zsh you need to specify history 1. I guess I really like python and vim.

Nice motivation blog entry

If it scares you do it! Often the things we want most we don't give ourselves permission to do.

long run
long run: ran 6 miles
feeling: felt really relaxed. It was a very muddy trail so I had to hop around puddles quite a bit. I ran a nice 1/4 mile sprint at the end of the run. I think I am going to start integrating a sprint at the end of my long runs, it is a nice way to finish a run.

motivational quote
"It's a dog-eat-dog world
out there...for forty hours a week. But when you get out to fifty, there aren't as many dogs. And
when you get out to sixty or more, it's downright lonely!"
How about 80 :)?

Choosing Your Reality
I have been on this kick for the last several years of "choosing" my own reality, or paradigm, and I think this video describes one way of doing it quite well. Reality is just a reflection of what you choose it to be, with some caveats, you can't walk into a bus and choose not to die :)

Having a commute is one of the most foolish decisions a person can make
After reading Tim Ferriss's post about commuting, I have to agree 100%. I will never again commute anywhere everyday. I had been thinking the same thing for the last few years, and I agree. There is no amount of money that makes up for the time lost by a commute in health, wasted effort, lost opportunities, etc.
Not having a commute now, I can say I am going to get in the best athletic condition I have ever been in, in my whole life with that extra time.

pullups:
Comment:
I have come up with a simple yet effective strategy. On back day and chest day. do 100 reps of each at least. Today, I am doing 100 pullups throughout the day.
This is a great post on pullups. I agree, it is about strength not weight. This guy is 310 and he does 21..WoW!
Total For Day: 33
Feeling: 33 pullups total in a few hours was pretty tough. I am curious to see what the rate of improvement will be, and at which point I will taper.

cardio: 45 min precor level 16
feeling: I think my body is becoming acclimated to the precor. I am going to need to increase intensity, and perhaps combine it with other techniques like doing a small run first.
